Starting in 1994, IACR has awarded Distinguished Lecture titles to people who have made important contributions to cryptologic research. The venue of the distinguished lecture alternates between Asiacrypt, Crypto, and Eurocrypt. The distinguished lecturer is chosen by the board of directors. Choices are typically made two years in advance.
