visa

In order to come to France, some foreigner might need to apply for a visa. Information about the procedure can be found on this website of the French government.

Note that if you are allowed to stay in France, you can also freely stay in Monaco.

Nice international airport

The easiest way to arrive to Nice from abroad is probably by plane. The international airport of Nice offers direct flights to many major cities. For those coming from further afield, there are frequent connections to both Paris Charles de Gaulle and Paris Orly airports. Nice international airport is very close to Nice and it is well-served by public transport.

There are two convenient bus lines between the airport and the center of Nice:

  • line 98 from the airport to Nice bus station (schedule);
  • line 99 from the airport to Nice train station (schedule).
An interesting option might be to buy a Pass 7 Days as it also offers easy transportation inside Nice during seven days, see also below. It can be bought at the airport.

There is bus line 110 between the airport and Monaco (schedule). Beware though that the traffic can be dense at peak times!

moving around

The taxi fare from the airport to the center of Nice is about 25€ during the day, 30€ by night.

Tickets for the bus can be purchased at the ticket offices that are situated directly outside Terminals 1 and 2. An interesting option might be the Tourist passes. These are valid between the airport and the center of Nice (bus 98), but also inside Nice (bus and tramway, in particular to go to the train station), and can be used to visit (by bus only) some of the surroundings. A 7 days pass is priced 15€ while a single day pass is priced 4€.

To visit towns like Antibes, Monaco, Cannes, etc. the above pass is not valid, but there are many train connections. Trains between Nice and Monaco take about 20 mn and Cannes is only 30 km away (the Festival de Cannes is taking place May 12–23).
