16:11 [Job][New] Ph.D studentship, School of Computing Science, Newcastle University, UK

A PhD studentship is available at the School of Computing Science, Newcastle University, UK. The research will be in the area of security and applied cryptography. Topics include, but are not limited by, authenticated key exchange, electronic voting, digital cash, and anonymous auction etc. It is expected that the student will work on a topic of his/her most interest and expertise, with aim to make an impact on real-world applications.

The studentship will cover the tuition fee, and provide a stipend of £14,790 per year for maintenance. However, the studentship is limited to EU students (otherwise, there will be a gap of tuition fee to fill).

To apply, please send your CV and a brief research proposal to Dr Feng Hao (feng.hao at The proposal does not need to be perfect (it is OK to look silly and crazy), but it should clearly identify the outstanding security problems that you are keen to solve; the solution to the problem is less important.
