The Department for Computer Science at the Technische Universitt Darmstadt is establishing a new program for creating independent research groups in the areas of information security and privacy:

Claude Shannon Fellow Program

Fellows will receive the opportunity to do independent research and teaching, and will receive additional funding to hire 1-2 PhD students. Candidates must have a finished PhD/doctoral degree in Computer Science or a related area; an outstanding publication record; and demonstrated experience in working with the international research community. Ideally they have held at least one postdoc position at a university other than the one they obtained their PhD degree from. The program offers competitive personal compensation and access to resources. Claude Shannon Fellows will be employed by TU Darmstadt on its own pay scale TV-TU Darmstadt (the salary will be comparable to the assistant/associate professor level W1/W2 in the German system). Applicants will be selected based on their credentials, references, and participation in a scientific colloquium.

We are specifically soliciting applications to fill 6 open positions for Claude Shannon Fellows. These are part of the European Center for Security and Privacy by Design (EC-SPRIDE), pending approval by the German Ministry of Science and Education. The positions offer term employment, initially end-ing on September 30th, 2015, according to the projected first phase of EC-SPRIDE. Subject to a positive evaluation of research results and a positive evaluation of the first phase of EC-SPRIDE, employment may be extended once, for up to 4 years.
