07:13 [Job][New] Ph.D. Scholarship , University of Wollongong, Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia

School of Computer Science and Software Engineering

3 year Ph.D. Scholarship

The Centre for Computer and Information Security Research (CCISR) is within the ICT Research Institute at the University of Wollongong. CCISR is a prominent Centre for research and development in information security in Australia, performing cutting edge research and development in cryptography, multimedia and network security.

CCISR is looking for an excellent Ph.D. student to work in the area of functional encryptions and attribute-based encryptions, under the supervision of Professor Willy Susilo. It is expected that candidates must hold MSc. degree or equivalent in computer science and/or mathematics, preferably with previous track records in publications in cryptography in refereed journals/conferences.

20:25 [Job][New] PhD positions in Quantum and Postquantum Cryptography, University of Tartu, Estonia

The Cryptography group at the University of Tartu, Estonia, is looking for two Ph.D. students in the area of quantum cryptography.

(For internships or visiting phd positions, contact us directly.)

The Cryptography group in Tartu (senior members: Dominique Unruh, Helger Lipmaa, Sven Laur) does research on a variety of cryptography related topic, such as quantum cryptography, verification, foundations of cryptography, cryptographic protocols, e-voting, etc.

The positions are part of a project to explore the possibilities and limitations of quantum cryptography (beyond the applications known today), and to explore how to construct cryptographic protocols that are secure even after the advent of quantum computers (postquantum cryptography).

The positions are funded with 1000 Euro per month net which in Estonia allows for a good standard of living. (Dormitory rooms are available for less than 100 euros a month, while reasonable apartments can be rented for 200-300 euro a month.) PhD students will be covered by standard health insurance. Some travel money will also be available.

Applications will be considered as they arrive and until the positions are filled.

See the link below for application instructions.

Do not hesitate to contact us in case of questions.

15:18 [Pub][Software] A Generator for LWE and Ring-LWE Instances

We introduce software for the generation of instances of the LWE and Ring-LWE problems, allowing both the generation of generic instances and also particular instances closely-related to those arising from cryptomania proposals in the literature. Our goal is to allow researchers to attack different instances in order to assess the practical hardness of LWE and Ring-LWE. This will in turn give insight to the practical security of cryptographic systems based on both problems.
