The Cryptography group in Tartu (senior members: Dominique Unruh, Helger Lipmaa, Sven Laur) does research on a variety of cryptography related topic, such as quantum cryptography, verification, foundations of cryptography, cryptographic protocols, e-voting, etc.

The positions are part of a project to explore the possibilities and limitations of quantum cryptography (beyond the applications known today), and to explore how to construct cryptographic protocols that are secure even after the advent of quantum computers (postquantum cryptography).

The positions are funded with 1000 Euro per month net which in Estonia allows for a good standard of living. (Dormitory rooms are available for less than 100 euros a month, while reasonable apartments can be rented for 200-300 euro a month.) PhD students will be covered by standard health insurance.
