Two contributions of the PALO ALTO project are the development of a library for cryptology on curves and of a cryptanalysis toolbox, with focus on fixed point precision arithmetic, finite field arithmetic, arithmetic on curves and on algorithms for exact linear algebra, discrete logarithms, and the GPU or FPGA as target architectures.

Research project in cryptography for wireless communications

This open position is part of a project realized in collaboration with the Digital Communications group at UCL, which deals with the problem of security in wireless communication and of cooperation among potentially untrusted units communicating over a wireless network. Side-channel attacks aim at breaking cryptographic devices by exploiting information related to the physical behaviour of the device, such as running time, power consumption, or emitted electromagnetic radiations.

The objectives of the SCEPTIC project are to develop competencies in the measurement, design and validation of electronic circuits, to study countermeasures against side channel attacks and to design modes of production that integrate the evaluation of the side channel resistance level in the complete development chain.

The position is within the international project CACE (Computer Aided Cryptographic Engineering). The goal of this project is to investigate and develop methodologies and tools for the generation and verification of advanced cryptographic primitives and protocols.

They are required to extend and/or enhance their skills  in (some of) the following fields: cryptography, applied number theory, compiler/language design and implementation.  A particular area of focus in the project are zero-knowledge proof of knowledge protocols.
