OLD CITY SULTANAHMET & HAGIA SOFIA
– THE BASILICA CISTERN & BOSPHORUS BOAT TOUR -
April 15, 2008, Tuesday
Departure from the Istanbul Hilton Hotel at 13:00 for a half day tour around
Istanbul.
Visit The Hippodrome of Constantinople ( Sultanahmet Meydanı ); was a horse-racing
track that was the sporting and social centre of Constantinople, capital of the
Byzantine Empire and the largest city in Europe.
Visit of Hagia Sofia; Hagia Sophia now known as the Ayasofya Museum, was
arguably the greatest Christian cathedral of the Middle Ages, later converted into
an imperial mosque in 1453 by the Ottoman Empire, and into a museum in 1935.
It is regularly considered one of the greatest and most beautiful buildings in history.
Visit Basilica Cistern is one of the magnificent historical constructions
of Istanbul, located near south-west of Ayasofya (Hagia Sophia). This huge cistern,
which was founded by Justinianus I, a Byzantine Empire (527-565), began to be called
by the public ‘the Sinking Palace’ – and not without a reason, seeing the great
number of marble columns arising out of the water.
Transfer to the pier to embark to Bosphorus Boat Tour.
The end of the tour and departure to the Istanbul Hilton Hotel. ( At 18.30 )
Half Day Excursion including transportation
with A/C, professional English Speaking Guide, visits and boat tour also snaks with
