Excursion to Mols Bjerge and Ebeltoft

Tuesday May 24, 2005

A guided tour to 'the mountains' of Mols Bjerge and the idyllic town of Ebeltoft is planned for Tuesday afternoon. The moraine landscape of Mols offers beautiful views to hills and sea. We'll stop at one of the oldest prehistoric mounds in Denmark, Porskær Stenhus, more than 2,000 years old.

Ebeltoft was granted the municipal charter in 1301 and with its leaning half-timbered houses and cobbled streets it is one of the most worth-seeing towns of Denmark. The Frigate Jylland (www.fregatten-jylland.dk) is one of Ebeltoft's most popular attractions. It was launched in 1860 and served as both royal yacht and battle ship before it was reduced to a barracks ship in 1892. After 10 years of restoration it is now possible for visitors, by means of computers, buttons and the like, to 'experience' life on board the frigate in its active period.

Our guide will introduce you to the Glassmuseum (www.glasmuseet.dk) which houses a large collection of contemporary glass from all over the world. You may visit it on your own or go shopping in Ebeltoft before the bus returns to Aarhus at 5 pm.

The price for the excursion covers: bus transport, guide, entrance and guided tour of the Frigate where coffee and cake will be served, and finally entrance to the Glassmuseum Ebeltoft.
